Memory Miniature - Create One For a Special Person in Your Life at the Artists’ Date Workshop on May 12* 2012 Special Events at Idlewyld B&B These pre- and post-season weekend events promise lots of fun and laughter, connecting with new people (and old friends), learning new skills, and enhancing our lives in a myriad of ways. Our “creatives” bring to us many opportunities to enrich our lives. Betsy, Claudia and Susan, Bob, Clela, Jacki, Marcia and I—Joan, each bring to the table a banquet of loveliness to enrich your spirits and creativity. Peruse the list below for details about their specific weekends. Included are topics such as watercolor painting, creative writing, health, creativity, knitting and always so many more unexpected surprises. Consider one of these weekends and give yourself or a special person the gift of a weekend retreat.
Spring Events Sit & Knit or Not – April 13-14-15 Join our informal and spontaneous weekend of fun and games and creativity. Includes room, breakfast Friday and Saturday, Friday night soup and salad, field trip to a yarn shop, AND tea time at the inn. Contact Joan at barrisjr@aol.com. This event is filled (wait list only) Claudia Taller’s Spring Word Lover’s Workshop- Creating Stories– June 8-9-10 Word Lovers convenes for a weekend of crafting fiction. Several accomplished fiction writers will do presentations on characterization, plot, dialog, and word choices to help writers bring their stories alive. Individual critique sessions available. May Watercolor Workshop with Bob Moyer – May 4-5-6 Bob Moyer will return for another watercolor workshop with a full weekend of professional instruction. Includes, room, breakfast Friday and Saturday; Friday soup and salad supper, Saturday lunch. Mother’s Day Fun-Filled Weekend – May 10-11-12-13 Features a potpourri of workshops to be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday Watercolor Workshop with Clela -Thursday afternoon and Friday morning Writers’ Workshop led by Jacki Green, writing guru at Rocky River Senior Center. *Memory Miniatures led by Marcia Rees Conrad, a registered architect in the State of Ohio and a member of the Columbus Miniature Society. Create a Memory Miniature that tells a story that may be passed down to children and grandchildren. The miniatures share a highlight from the past to share with future generations. Build a memory of a wedding or anniversary, a birthday, or a special stay at Lakeside Lake Erie. Capture this memory in miniature. It can be as simple as the 50th anniversary memory boxes that were presented as a gifts or an elaborate miniature setting of a mom’s kitchen baking cookies that were passed down to grandchildren or a memory captured in a jar of sand of just sitting on the beach at Lakeside. Miniature boxes and houses will be on display at the time of the class for inspiration and conversation. Sunday - Mother’s Day Brunch at Wesley Lodge. Indigo Connection Women’s Retreat with Betsy Muller - May 18-19-20 Creating Your Energy Makeover: Do you love connecting with intelligent open-minded women, positive energy and natural self-care solutions for health, beauty and productivity? Susan Mikolic’s A Summer Discovery Wellness Weekend - June 1-2-3 (canceled) In its Place: June 1-2-3 – Open Weekend – Potpourri of Things to Do Come enjoy the quiet time to reflect, read, walk. There is a potpourri of things that Joan teaches during the Lakeside Chatauqua season at the Rhein Center that will be available by request (unscheduled). Crocheting a bling necklace, creating a colorful mandala, poetry writing, mindfulness practice, watercolor DVDs.
Fall Events Fall Watercolor Workshop With Bob – September 18-19 Bob Moyer will return for a mini watercolor workshop with a day and a half of professional instruction. Includes room, breakfast and lunch on Wednesday and instruction. Sharing Our Gifts (Artist’s Way) Retreat - October 5-6-7 Claudia Taller and Joan Barris host this group of special women for a weekend of sharing creativity, relaxing and experiencing exuberant joy.
